Bikes and Runners on Marquette on Sept. 24 & 25
Posted on Aug 10th, 2022

Traffic on Marquette Dr. and toward Union Pier may impacted the morning of Saturday, Sept. 24, by the Fired Up 5k, an event to support the New Buffalo Township Fire Department.  Funds provide our NBT firefighters with equipment they need to better serve our community. Participants will run on the new non-motorized path along Red Arrow Highway and wind through Union Pier. Post-race activities, including a beer for participants over 21, will be held at Seedz Brewery.

New Buffalo Township Supervisor Michelle Heit writes:

New Buffalo Township Fire Department will be hosting its first 5K race on September 24th 2022. Proceeds from the race go to Friends of New Buffalo Township Fire, which supports our NBT Fire Dept with equipment and items they need to better serve our community.

The race will start and finish on Community Hall Road. It heads down the non-motorized path, turns down Townline Road, then left on Lakeshore Road and on to the Timber Lane area. See attached map.

This letter is to let you know that some roads in the area of your business or home will be closed from approximately 8:30-10:30 the morning of the race. We will have plenty of police and firefighters on the course to assist with the closures. If you have an emergency and need access to closed roads, they can assist.
We believe this will be a great community event and plan to host it on an annual basis. We hope this won’t be an inconvenience and that maybe you can join us for the race that day.

If you have any questions, please call NB Township Supervisor Michelle Heit at 269-469-1011 extension 103.
