(Call Berrien County Sheriff Patrol for New Buffalo Township, not the City of New Buffalo police department.)
New Buffalo Township ordinances listed at https://newbuffalotownship.org/township-ordinances include the Anti-Noise and Public Nuisance Ordinance NO. 690720.  Click images to print ordinance excerpts and suggested courses of action, respectively.
Among the noises and disturbances that violate this ordinance are:
Section 2B2: The playing of any radio or any musical instrument in such a manner or with such volume as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort or repose of any other person.
Section 2B3: Yelling, shouting, hooting or singing on the public streets between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. [Eastern Time] or at any time or place so as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort or repose of any persons in the vicinity.
The RHOA Board has communicated with the Township Supervisor and the Sheriff's Department to compile suggested courses of action:
Talk to the neighbor or rental people in person
Call the homeowner
Call the Berrien County Sheriff Patrol: Non-Emergency (866) 630-7679
Document the incident and send an email to both:
Lt. Ryan Sullivan, Rsulliva@berriencounty.org (Note: No “n” on the end of his name in the email address.)
Michelle Heit, New Buffalo Township Supervisor, mheit@newbuffalotownship.org
Also, if you know (or suspect) it is a rental, please also email Dan Madalis, Fire Inspector in charge of short-term rentals, dmandalis@newbuffalotownship.org
Homeowners can download a PDF if they wish to post a copy of the rule excerpts (page 1) or print the suggested courses of action (page 2).
